asweetypi 0 Posted September 14, 2012 I'm having the sleeve done in November and wanted to try the pre op diet to see how well I can do. Does anyone know what the diet consist of?
nyxa 159 Posted September 14, 2012 depends on your surgeon.. some have you do 2 weeks liquid only diet.. Protein shakes & Water.. some have you eat low carb & do Protein Shakes the last couple days.. some don't have a pre-op diet at all. most common (from what i've seen on the board) is the 2 week liquid diet. PdxMan 4,292 Posted September 14, 2012 My pre-op was a lean and green diet for 2 weeks. Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch dinner was lean Protein with a large salad. I usually did tuna, but occassionally had shrimp or chicken. My salads were large and had all kinds of veggies in them, too. If I got hungry after dinner, I was allowed to have a Protein Shake. I lost 10 pounds on my pre-op diet.
Butterthebean 8,146 Posted September 14, 2012 Mine was 5 days of nothing but Protein Shakes and Soups with 1 can of tuna or small piece of grilled chicken per day, and then the next 5 days nothing but the Protein shakes and Soup. I lost 15 pounds and was remarkably never hungry, but I had no calorie limit.
traceyc 89 Posted September 14, 2012 Mine was 20 grams of carbs or less per day, low fat for 2 weeks. Clear Liquids only the day before. I was happy to not have to do the liquid diet before. It really varies so much by doctor.
