Nick'sMom 54 Posted September 14, 2012 Hi there - I'm trying to get a frame of reference for the pain after getting sleeved. I searched the site for this but didn't find anything. Since I've had a c-section, I was wondering if anyone could chime in on their experience and compare the two. Thanks!!!

jena530 16 Posted September 14, 2012 In my opinion, C-section was much worse!!!!! I wouldn't want to do a c-section again but I'd do sleeve again in a heartbeat. Don't get me wrong, it's not a breeze, but far less painful than a cesarean for sure! 2 Nick'sMom and Sheree reacted to this
RareGold3000 185 Posted September 14, 2012 LOL I was thinking the same thing before my Sleeve surgery on the 21st of August. I've had 4 C-Sections. C-Sections in my opinion were much worse than the Sleeve surgery, since the sleeve is done laparoscopically (unless it's an open surgery). My sections were vertical though so more was cut thru the muscles each time. Others might have a different experience. But, I thought of it this way, IF I could handle 4 sections, the sleeve should probably be much easier and it was!! After you have the sleeve, let us know what you think! 2 Sheree and Nick'sMom reacted to this
Sheree 10 Posted September 14, 2012 hi, I had the sleve July 6th - this year. I had a c-section in 1986. (yes I am a grandma= 56) The c-section was MUCH worse for me. VERY difficult to get up and down w/out it feeling like things wanted to fall out. I had pain for a week. My sleeve was almost a piece of cake in comparison. I know some people have more pain but I only had the pain meds in the hosp. and at night to help me sleep. I can only sleep well on my belly and of course you can't do that for a while. I would say don't worry too much about "pain", dis-comfort is a better word. Ask your Dr. if you can use a heating pad because the warmth was very soothing for me. You will do great and I'll bet you will be amazed how little pain you really have. good luck! 1 Nick'sMom reacted to this
doxieville 799 Posted September 14, 2012 C-section was worse by far!!! The pain from the actual cutting & surgery of the sleeve in nothing. It's the nausea and trying to drink that's hard. 1 Sheree reacted to this
Nick'sMom 54 Posted September 14, 2012 Thank you all so much for responding so quickly. I feel so much better knowing that you have had that experience. My c-section/delivery was quite the ordeal so I was hoping that if I could make it through that, I should be able to handle this. I get sleeved on the 24th so I'll report back, I'm sure with good news. Thank you for the tip on the heating pad! 1 Sheree reacted to this

iggychic 1,405 Posted September 14, 2012 I would have six hundred c sections before i'd do this again. I was laid up 4 days on the c, i am still on full bedrest after 21 days from vsg.
dar1983 751 Posted September 14, 2012 Umm, during a c-section, they cut across your stomach muscles. OUCH. The sleeve was a much easier recovery. Luckily, both result in a lovely outcome.

I was sleeved on 8/21, I know it hasn't been that long, but the pain is still there, I remember with my c-section I was moving around without major discomfort a few days after...this is bad, I started to fell much better, and just this morning the pain came back, I couldn't even get up from my bed. I'm sorry to hear you are having such trouble. If I'm not being too nosey, why are you on bed rest? Did they have to convert to an open surgery?
