Tomorrow is my EGD. Very excited.

Sleeved on the 20th.

6 days of liquids left pre-op.

I am so ready for this.

I know what you mean! Just had final visit with surgeon and NUT today. I am doing 6 days of Optifast, then surgery on the 20th too.

Good luck on EGD!

This is the only place where anyone has ever put those words in that order. LOL

LOL BrickHouse! I've had one before. It's not bad at all. Now if you added colonoscopy to it, then I'd head right to the shrink.

I am having the EGD tomorrow and I can say I am not all that excited...never done this before and don't really like the thought of something going long/thin going down my throat. I am supposed to be at the hospital at 6 a.m....I think I am going to bed soon.

No worries, Nacol. You'll be asked to bite down on a piece of plastic and then you're out. Next thing you know you're waking up. If they do a good job like mine, you won't even have a sore throat later. Goodnight!

Hi ShrinkyDink! I posted today's experience titled Complete Success! Thank you for asking.

Long story short, it went EXTREMELY well! I've been cleared for surgery next Thurdsay! If you have specific questions, please message me. I'll do what I can to help!

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
