Hey everyone I need everyone's opinion. I found out in July I'll be losing my job in march 2013. I have a tentative surgery date of nov 12th. I am looking for a new job but I'm scared that I'll get one in oct and not be able to take a week off in nov. what is everyone's thoughts????

I would still look for a new job but I would make it clear that you needed some time mid-November tentatively starting on November 12th and lasting about 2 weeks. You can just say it's personal business or whatever. If they hire you with that provision they should be willing to honor it when the time comes.

I made my two week vacation to Disney World a condition of pre-employment, so I don't think you'll have a problem if you tell them you're having surgery or tell them you have a vacation that has been planned and paid for.

When did you tell them?? During the interview or once it was offered to you?
