I am also booked with Dr. Lopez in puerto Vallarta. Only not until Jan. I would also like to hear anyone's experience who is willing to share on the facility and the experience in its entirety of going to Puerto Vallarta. How was the care and experience with the doctors staff there. How was the hotel? How are your guests treated. Any regrets or difficulties. Just any info anyone can give. I have seen soooo many reviews on the experience in TJ with Dr. Lopez but very few in Puerto Vallarta.

I am thinking of going to Puerto Vallarta also! I live in Houston so it seems reasonable to fly South and you can't beat the senery! I am going to schedule for November 16, 2012! Please update how your experience goes!!!!

Sleeved by Dr Lopez in PV on Sept 19th. Hospital was fantastic, hotel was very nice, right on the beach. Hospital staff was great. Doing very well post op. Since the start of my pre op diet, combined with post op, i have lost 27 lbs in less than a month!

stickks!!! Congrats! I have a question before i pay my deposit today...Should I be concerned that he does only 1 leak test? Did you have a lot of gas pains and was the pain medicine enough. I don't want to have to bring anything with me. I am taking my brother with me, did you also travel with someone? Sorry for all the questions...it is a big decision! Thank you so much and glad you are healing so well!

No not at all. That is standard. You only need one. I did have gas pains after the surgery for a few hours that night and the pain meds helped, but the best thing you can do to alleviate the gas pains is to get up and walk as soon as you can after the surgery. That helps more than the pain meds The next day, I was feeling much much better.

Just pack lightly, with loose fitting clothes. My wife came with me, she had the surgery as well. We were both not as bad off as some people here, both just over 30bmi, but still very glad we had the surgery. You will do fine. Mexican hospitals in my opinion are better and nicer than the ones here. Brush up on your spanish though. The nurses didnt speak alot of english. But everyone was very caring and nice. We loved being in PV. Wonderful city, and no reason not to feel not safe. The drug violence is overhyped, and honestly your more at risk in this country.

I am curious who you all have used as your coordinator? I have spoke with Ron from Mexico Bariatric Center. Has anyone else spoke with him?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
