hsirk 45 Posted September 12, 2012 My doctor decided to do 3 weeks of a high Protein liquid diet before surgery. I started that liquid diet on Sunday and as of this morning I have lost 13 lbs by my scale. How much should I hope or expect to see come off in these first few weeks? Anyone have some insight they can share?
aroundhky 1,174 Posted September 12, 2012 I think it depends on many variables like (age, muscle mass, liquid diet duration, if you're allowed some solids, etc). As for me, I was on the liquid diet for 2 1/2 weeks and lost 16 pounds.....but a good bit of that was muscle weight.
Cinders 56 Posted September 12, 2012 I started my pre-op diet on Monday & am down 8lbs today. I am sure as we are all different we will all have different results.
NotsoSlimShady 19 Posted September 15, 2012 I was on a 3 week liquid diet and I lost 31 lbs. Of course I had gained 20 in the month before I started. food funerals can pack on some pounds! 3 weeks can be tough....just put your head down and get through it 1 hsirk reacted to this
hsirk 45 Posted September 15, 2012 I am really hopeful that I will lose around 30 or 40 pounds on the pre-op. Not only to make sure that I have downsized enough fatty tissue around the liver, but also because the more that comes off now, the less I will have to lose later. I was at 20 lbs yesterday - I am going to have to hide my scale so that I don't become obsessed!!
