Ijam75 102 Posted September 12, 2012 My cholesterol was slightly elevated during my preop testing that was done right before surgery. On a recent visit to my PCP, he suggested starting an RX to help lower it. After a discussion around my new diet and whether it would drop on its own, we both decided to do blood work at the 3 month point and see if it has dropped that little bit needed. So my question is, have you noticed a drop in cholesterol levels post op? While I'm eating much less, much healthier and exercising, I can't help but wonder if the focus on Protein will prevent my numbers from improving. Sent from my mobile productivity killer. deb_fox 42 Posted September 12, 2012 I have been on Cholesterol medication for over 15 years. When I went for my post-op blood work approximately 2 months after my surgery, my numbers for everything they tested were amazing. I asked my Primary Care Physician if I can stop my Cholesterol medication and she agreed! My next labs are in 3 months. We are hoping my numbers remain good so I can stay off of them! Gene1970 179 Posted September 12, 2012 my two month post op labs are MUCH better than pre-op. It looks like by the time I have my 6 month labs that my cholesterol should be within normal ranges again.

Rootman 1,101 Posted September 12, 2012 I had my last blood test done last April during my annual exam. 2 years in a row mine were very low, 133 total, 64 triglycerides and 53 HDL. My doc actually suggested ADDING some more fat back in my diet. I was in the mid 200's overall and triglycerides pre-op, not bad but not good either.
