doxieville 799 Posted September 12, 2012 Every doctor is different, so you really need to stick with your doctors protocol. That being said.....I was taking pills w/in 24 hours. I'm on extended release medication for pain control & autoimmune diseases and the docs (primary, rheumy & surgeon) all agreed it was better to keep my on my regime. I'm 3 weeks out, had a leak test last week...all's good.
Jenn31MA 149 Posted September 12, 2012 I started the day after the surgery in the hospital and i haven't had a problem taking pills. I know some people do though.
kyllfalcon 768 Posted September 12, 2012 Same here. They handed me gigantic pills at the hospital next day. No problems with them at all.
lollyfidy1965 402 Posted September 12, 2012 Very surgeon-dependent. My surgeon strongly recommends all medications be liquid, chewable, crushable, etc for at least the first year....and always, preferably. Anything "gummy" is supposed to be avoided altogether. (If you don't understand why, put a Gummy bear in a glass of Water, and watch what happens to it!) 1 chad2rad reacted to this
