It is better to do a pre op to shrink your liver plus it helps to prepare you for life after surgery. My pre op was 10 days but I did 14 just because I wanted my liver to be shrunk. I wanted my surgery to go really well and it did ;) Dr. A is a wonderful surgeon!

For the person that asked' date=' he is through Endobariatrics.com not alighterme.[/quote']

How much was he? You stayed at hotel in SD after? How many nights in hospital did you stay and was it an actual hospital or clinic?

Thanks!!

You stay at a hotel in San Antonio, Texas after surgery. To get to Dr. Alvarez, they cross the border at eagle Pass, Texas. The hospital is older and small, I believe they do other surgeries there and they deliver babies there. There was one born each day I was in the hospital. It is not a strip mall surgery center at all. You stay in the hospital for two days.

He charges under 9,000.00 for everything, surgery, hospital stay, meds, hotels and transportation to and from San Antonio. You pay for the flight there.

It is very safe to cross the border there, we had no issues at all.

I'm in Eagle Pass, Texas! Surgery tomorrow and I can't believe it. But i'm ready to get it done and go home. My sleeve buddy is interesting and we have a lot to chat about which really helps with nerves. Well, wish me luck!

@allnewme surgery went great! No complaints.... Dr. Alvarez was the best decision I have made in a long time. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. I'm 4 days out and have already lost 7 lbs, so excited!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
