Uugghhh..Nasty! Keep searching, it's hard to find one you like, but you will. Also, your taste may change after surgery "mine did," and what you found you liked, suddenly becomes nasty.

Did you buy ready to drink or powder? I think the rtd taste good.

+1 on taste changing. I can't drink a single Protein that I liked pre-op. Darn cabinet full of unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury that I couldn't drink if my life counted on it.

Sent from my mobile productivity killer.

Truth is none of them will ever be a sonic bananna cream pie shake. Find some you Can tolerate to have on hand after surgery but not too much of any kind. Most people's tastes and temperature preference change quite a lot .

That is true. But is there one that tastes like the Brownie Batter Milkshake from Zaxby's lol?!?!?

Try the Costo Brand shake. It is really good. vanilla was kinda icky. I didn't go overboard with buying the shakes, because I have read that the taste buds change a bit after surgery.

i tried the rtd chocolate light. i know they will not be a milk shake :( but i just didn't like it at all. years ago i drank Isopure dutch chocolate. i will have to see if those are still around and check the carbs and Protein on those.

maybe if i plug my nose and drink it :)

thanks all. i have a list going of the ones you suggested.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
