Omg Omg Omg Omg Omg Omg - I Got A Date!

Recommended Posts

I am still breathless with excitement...and fear. Oct 22 I am getting sleeved! It kinda sucks that it is the day after my birthday, so clearly no food or alcohol based celebrations... but clearly, food and alcohol based celebrations are WHY I am 100lbs overweight, right?

I keep - literally - pinching myself to see if this long wait is almost over. I started the program at Kaiser Permanente in November of 2011. And now I have a date. Wow. I am almost giddy.

Good luck to you! I felt the exact same way and still do. I'm getting sleeved on Sept 24th and some days I'm super confident and other days very anxious. I keep telling myself all the reasons why I am doing this and it calms me down..a little :) I'm on day 3 of 15 of my pre-op diet....so far so good. The dread of liquids is worse than it really is. We can do this!!

Nick'sMom - thanks... I have been REALLY worried about the two week liquid diet... Not only could I do it successfully, but could I do it without killing, dismembering and eating my family. I tend to get cranky when hungry.

You are so funny...that is exactly what I said to my family...i actually apologized beforehand because I am not very nice when hungry. You can do it! I am on day 4 and doing ok so far. Diner is the hardest time for me. So I make sure I have hot broth. I have been adding fruit to my shakes and that has really helped. My morning one I make with Decaf coffee..yum. Last night I froze a chocolate shake and ate that while watching Sons of Anarchy.

I am having it at Holy Cross Hosp in Maryland. I have been trying various Protein Shakes and drinks on and off for the last six months, and honestly? I don't care for any of them! That two weeks is gonna be HARD!

Congrats! I am envious of all you with Kaiser that doesn't have to go through a 6 month course before getting final approval and meeting with the surgeon. the NUT told me it wouldn't be till Mar/Apr timeframe :( I'm trying not to overeat and I find that I have a hard time controlling myself...even if I try to portion my food.< /p>

I am drinking Bariatric Advantage and they are pretty good. No funny after taste. I have the choc and vanilla and they are pretty versatile.

No envy needed! I stared the Kaiser program in November 2011... I had a six month program with a nutritionist, and had to be approved by a committee ... THEN I had to meet with the surgeon; I got an appt in May... I have been waiting since May for a surgery date... So the entire process is almost one full year.

I hear you - as Tom Petty says, the waiting is the hardest part!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
