Embarrassing....

Recommended Posts

I've shared this story before, I think. We went to Disney World and Universal Studios for Christmas and New Year's last year. I avoided many rides, but I really wanted to ride Harry Potter. I went up to the seat tester, thank God they started providing these, instead of making people wait in long lines, only to find out that they don't fit. Anyway, I get in the tester, and it doesn't clear. Two well-meaning teenage boys decide to come "help", by pushing and pushing, no luck. A mom and her 3 toddlers decides that they're not doing it right, so she tries to put all of her 90 lb body into making the bar go down, no luck. Now, here comes her husband, concerned that she was going to hurt herself, starts to push really hard, and it started hurting, but still wasn't clearing. I was just ready to get up, but they were so insistent they could get me on the ride. I tried to explain that it was okay, my daughter still had someone to ride with, she's special needs and usually only gets on a ride with me. After several people tried with no luck, and still not wanting to let me up, a worker walks by and says to just sit in the outside spot, and I'll be fine. By that point, I had 8 people in front of me trying to "help". I just laughed it off, but my eyes were watering, partly from the embarrassment and the other part from the pain of them squishing my innards to get the bar down, but boy was it worth it. I love that ride.

At least you were brave enough to try to ride. I have always been afraid to do any rides like that. Last year I went tubing and it was so hard to get in and out of the tubes. I was so slow through the rapids because I was so heavy, then my tube over-turned and I was stuck upside down! It was a bit dangerous.

The most horrible thing happened to me this weekend.... my wonderful boyfriend took me to the state fair in my hometown. We were walking around and he wanted to ride rides. I was mindful of the ones with belts and decided against those to avoid the horror that ended up happening anyways.... we chose one and i agreed to it because i didnt see any restraints that needed to be used. I was wrong. Of course' date=' i was one of the last ones on so there was an audience for it. The operator tried to hook the belt, tried a seat with a bigger belt and finally said i would have to get off the ride. Wow. One of the lowest moments...... i cannot wait till Feb 2013 to get sleeved!!!! Does anyone share this experience???[/quote']

Where are u going to have it done I am going at tha t time too

I'm sorry you had to experience that! I've never have had that happen on a ride (I've always refused to go on any because of my weight) but I have gone to restaurants in the past and not been able to fit in the booth, it was horrible.

I think the worst thing about this is that the adults didn't have the sense to know that it would become more embarrassing than helpful at some point.

If it's any consolation, the last boyfriend I had before I met my husband was slender but wide in the shoulders and had trouble with rides that had to go over his shoulders. From what I've heard, rides are designed based on the prototype for certain clothing sizes.

I have avoided all fair/carnival rides for years now out of that same fear...or the fear that I am so fat I will cause my "car" on the ride to bust off the hinges :-( But I'm looking forward to my skinnier days when I can reward myself with an amusement park ride :-)

this summer I went to the community pool with my friends and went down one of the longer Water slides...these slides are not built for big girls and there is not enough water flow to help build up speed. I came to a halt at the very end of the slide and had to wiggle of the end into the pool...I was caught between the hilarity of the moment and my embarassment! I totally laughed it off but i was still embarassed. The skinny little life guard in her skimpy bathing suit just gave me this look that said "get off the slide fatty"...I wanted to crown her with my sunscreen bottle!

I had to ask for a seatbelt extender on an airplane, I was so embarrased because like many of us have experienced the flight attendant announced very loudly my need to another attendant. The next time I flew, I pretended my seatbelt was fastened- horrible turbulance!! I do NOT reccomend that plan. So the next time I asked for the extender and I was embarrased again by strangers sharing my row. What did I do? I stole the extender and now keep it in my carry-on so I never forget it and I never have to ask. I have flown many airlines and airplane styles and it seems to fit all of them. Do I reccomend stealing NO! But...

While traveling for business with my very small' date=' extremely fit boss, I had "the moment"...I had to ask for a seatbelt extender for the first time ever. I wanted to DIE of shanevand embarrassment.

I sheepishly called out to the flight attendant and then, in a barely audible voice, explained my situation. She stomped to the front of the plane in a huff, obviously annoyed. That alone got people's attention. I will never, ever forget what she did next....she came stomping back up the aisle and in an really loud voice says, "WHERE'S THE LADY WHO NEEDS THE SEATBELT EXTENDER?!"

I've never been so humiliated in my entire life. I wanted to die, sitting there, trapped on that plane with my boss. I barely raised my hand and she pretty much came towards me swinging the damn thing over her head. I wanted to choke her with it.

Instead, I did what lots of us fatties do, I hid my pain and shame with humor. To make everyone ELSE less uncomfortable. I cannot wait for the day when I'm thin and healthy enough that the seatbelt panic will not even cross my mind while boarding a plane.[/quote']

I went all the way to Mexico without a seatbelt just I wouldn't have to ask for and extension. What a nervous nelly I was when we arrived. Thank God we did not hit turbulence on the way!

I also went to Mexico and back without buckling my seat belt because I did not want to have to ask for an extender. I figure if the plane is going to crash, a seat belt probably won't help me much anyway.

I was on a date at a local carnival. We decided to ride the Scrambler which was always a favorite of mine. It has this weird lap bar thing that locks you into place. Well, with the bar down we couldn't get the door shut. An attendant who was apparently a trainee came to help us. He struggled for a while pushing and shoving the bar into my gut, the called out to his supervisor for help. The other guy came over and chastised the newbie for pushing so hard. He showed him how to aim the bar upwards (under or ribcages) and said that sometimes you have to do it this way "cuz people got stomachs".

My date wasn't svelte but he could fit in the ride just fine. I was so embarrassed that he had to witness that!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
