How Long Does It Take You To Eat?

Recommended Posts

I tend to still eat quick but am trying my hardest to slow down. I just had lunch and it's taken me an hour.

I had a Vita Weat lunch slice with avocado, cheese, tuna and sliced Tomato.< /span>

I've now started taking my Breakfast with me to have at work (the days I go into the office) as previously would get up at 6.00am, eat and start getting ready at 6.30am, which was too rushed.

Nessa

hi there

from the beginning we're told to eat slowly, chew - put utencil down after between bites, butttttt.......

an hour to eat????

are you intentially taking so long to eat, cuz you are thinking you are eating too fast, taking an hour to eat - IMO, thats a little too slow

i never timed myself - i will have one bite, put utensil down, chew to death, and continue to eat slowly.

1/2 hr total time maybe? I'll try and remember to time myself out of curiosity tomorrow

good luck

you'll be fine

:)

Intentionally an hour, more for lunch. Breakfast and dinner I can do in 1/2 hour to 45 mins.

I feel that if I eat slower, I won't get as hungry as quickly.

Fullness wise, I'm just comfortable, not at the point of overdoing and feeling sick.

I'm still scared that I'm stretching the stomach if I overdo it, but I know it's not possible...right?

I take about 45 minutes to eat and it can go to an hour depending on the meal. I get really full after 4 or 5 bites and was totally stopping my meals at this point. After being told by my doctor and bariatric coordinator that my caloric intake was too low, I now eat those first filling bites then wait for some time and eat more. It has helped get more food in which has made me feel better overall. My calories are still low but there has been an increase.

My doctor said if you can take an hour to eat, then do it!

Depending on what I'm eating, 20 min MINIMUM to usually about 45 min. I do that sit infront of the tv thing people say NOT to do otherwise I eat too fast and/or "head hunger food anxiety" hits me like a brick wall!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
