6 day post op & I cant get but 1 spoonful of food down per setting! I have a SEVERE stabbing pain lasting a few seconds every 30 seconds for an hr! I can take

A sip or two with the same affect :(

Is this normal?! Im lucky to get 15 grams of Protein in a day.

Yes, it can be normal. But to be safe, I'd call your surgeon for advice. I was on liquids for almost two weeks, not sure what foods you're allowed on your plan at day 6? Might be too soon?

My doctor gave me a very low dose of Ativan to help with esophageal spasms (anti-anxiety type medication). It helped during the healing phase!

Any severe pain (especially one that is getting worse as time goes by) warrants a call to the Dr. That's what they are there for.

Call your surgeon, you are probably having spasms.

How fast or slow are you taking them in? Do you see a difference in temperatures? Sometimes warm tea went down better than room temp or cold liquids, sometimes vice versa.

Are all the severe pains in the chest/rib area? Usually in the abdomen it's gas or incisional healing. Still if it's with anything you try, I'd call your doctor.

I have the same thing going on. I'm 11 days out. Every bite, every drink the same pain. Mine is still from swelling, but definitely check with your doctor.

Paige. I feel your pain girl. It's just such a hassle to even try to eat or drink anything. My dr says it'll get better. I hope it does for you as well, what does your dr say?

I have the same issue and I am 6 days out. They say it's the swelling so give it time and I feel I'm gonna die from dehydration or just give up on it all.private message me maybe we can do this together

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
