You don't want the Water to wash the food through your sleeve too quickly. You'll do better with hunger the longer it sits. With that said, I do have a small sip of water after I finish eating- it seems to help me psychologically feel "done". My surgeon was okay with it as long as it was only one sip and after the meal. I also use it to take my PPI so it sits in a full stomach and fully dissolves.

We aren't supposed to drink during meals because it makes the food go through your stomach faster, making you hungry sooner. There's a really great vid on the forums floating around about a guy showing applesauce in a funnel and how quickly it goes through w/ just a little bit of Water. It helped visualize for me at least, why we don't drink. i'd totally post the link if i could find it.

My NUT said the Water pushes the food thru much quicker and then you are hungry again before your next meal.

Im 9 mo's postop and sometimes i do take a small sip between bites of food. However, in the early postop stages, I was told by my nut "no drinks 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after a meal". I know that the "before" is because you don't want to fill up your belly with liquid, thus lacking much needed nutrients you would get from food. Never asked about the "after", altho I feel so full from my meal that I don't care to drink anything right away anyways.
