bigreddog 0 Posted September 21, 2006 Banded 2 weeks ago, starting to introduce new foods. Does anyone have recommendations for a style of eating long term - the band handles volume control, but should I eat high Protein or low fat or what long term? Carlene 12 Posted September 21, 2006 I strive for low fat, low cal. Bandsters generally have to struggle to get their minimum Protein in - never mind "high protein". There is only so much room...
Arcael 0 Posted September 22, 2006 I'd try to go with the best of both worlds, high Protein and low calorie (kind of an oxymoron, but most of your calories should come from protein/fat and like none from carbohydrates)
TamifromAL 1 Posted September 23, 2006 My doc recommended simply avoiding saturated fats and sugar. That, plus daily exercise and following the basic "lap band" eating style and quantity. (3 meals/day of about 1 c. each with tiny, well-chewed bites.) I'm still in the mushie stage, but once I'm on solids, I'm going to follow the South Beach diet eating guidelines, at least until I get some restriction. It's high Protein and low-carb, but still allows plenty of veggies and Beans. Unlike Atkins, it does limit the saturated fats, but allows the healthier oils like olive and canola. So, it's basically low-fat meat, poultry and fish, Beans, low starch veggies, low-fat dairy, limited nuts, and olive/canola oil.
