Salsa- When Is It Allowed?

Recommended Posts

I know I've read somewhere to stay away from salsa for awhile as it can 'anger' a sleeve. Has anyone found this to be true? And if so, when were you able to enjoy salsa again? Thanks!

I enjoy salsa now, at three weeks out. I put it on my re fried Beans and on my egg (singular) :) . Everyone is different thought so proceed with caution your first time.

Thanks! I'm only 5 days post, but feeling fine. I've been wanting to add salsa to my retried Beans. I think I will. My surgeon advances diet pretty quickly. I go to things like deli slices in 2 more days. I can't wait!

I had chilli and spicy foods 3 weeks out with no problems at all! I went to a BBQ 4 weeks out and had a half of a spicy bean burger with got dog onions in sauce on it and it was perfect and moistened it up too!

well my question with having salsa is about the Tomato seeds in it. My doc and NUT are very strict on eating anything with seeds. They told me to stay away till about 6 mo. ! Anyone else been told to stay away from seeds? I thought that the sleeve was healed at 6 weeks so not real sure why it would matter for that long. any thoughts

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
