Hi guys! I was sleeved last Tuesday, which makes me 6 days post-op. I started full liquids yesterday including Protein Shakes and yogurt. However, I have been having diarrhea each time after I drink or eat now. This didn't happen with Clear Liquids. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be or any similar experiences? I was thinking my body may not like the shake I am having? Maybe Lactose Intolerance? Maybe my digestive track is still just getting back on track?

I see my surgeon tomorrow, so I can certainly talk it over with him. But, I wanted to see if anyone had ever had experience with this.

Thanks!

sounds like it could be lactose intolerance, since it only happens when you eat yogurt or have Protein Shake (most Protein Shakes are made from milk protein)

i'm sorry you're going through this & i hope you'll feel better soon.

might do a little test on yourself & swing by the grocery store (or have someone swing by for you) & pick up almond milk or some soy milk & see how you react to that. if all goes well, you might want to consider picking up some vegan Protein shakes or powders.. vega makes some, as well as garden of life and sun warrior.. sun warrior is sweetened with stevia, so if you don't like that, then you might not like that one too much.

if you do okay with an alternative milk, you may also try swapping the yogurt for almond/hemp/coconut/cashew milk & yogurts. those you'd have to get at a health food store or some place like whole foods. they all have high amounts of protein.. as do soy products.. and are fortified with Calcium & stuff like that. i like plain, unsweetened almond milk a lot, but you may want to try vanilla or chocolate or something. :) silk soy milk is available pretty much anywhere, so if you don't have a soy allergy, that may be worth looking into.

again, hope you get to feeling better asap. poor thing!

I became lactose intolerant after surgery. It is apparently quite common and will most likely not be permanent, but within a year I should be able to reintroduce lactose.

Switch to a lactose free Protein Powder and lactose free milk, or the almond/soy milks already recommended.

I became lactose intolerant big time! Had the runs all the time! I switched to Isopure favors alpine punch, grape, etc, they are sold at GNC, I had a problem with whey which a lot of lactose intolerant people have! When I switched to the isopure the Diareha stopped!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
