oconnell 8 Posted September 10, 2012 I'm a week and a half out and these hunger pains will not quit! I'm on full liquids but it's almost as if ten minutes after I finish a Protein Shake my stomach is growling again! I thought this wasn't supposed to happen! My stomach didn't growl THIS much BEFORE surgery.. wtf?!! 3 TiDubb, Bobbie72 and smb reacted to this

katieb 80 Posted September 10, 2012 Right after surgery I was much hungrier than I am now. I am 4 months out and eat very small. Just be patient and diligent in your food choices.
Butterthebean 8,146 Posted September 10, 2012 Perfectly normal. Your stomach is healing but you haven't eaten anything.....plus you don't realize how much of it is head hunger, but you can bet some of it is. I was craving food so bad my second week, I was licking wheat thins. Once you start eating solid foods this will be a distant memory. 4 PiggyPantsPaige, LawDiva312, TamaraS and 1 other reacted to this

Angela324 13 Posted September 10, 2012 How hilarious--licking salt off wheat thins! I'm surprised I haven't thought of that. I'm only 5 days post, feeling very good, and thinking I am mighty hungry. Life can sure not seem boring without food, can't it? Ha! Also thanks for the great articles TamaraS. 1 TamaraS reacted to this

mom2five 292 Posted September 10, 2012 I heard that its not really hunger pains but excess acid. If you take antacids, it will subside. But what do I know? I'm pre-surgery. lol
TamaraS 235 Posted September 10, 2012 I am really bummed the site links didnt work, I went back to blog and only some of them work. Im going to try again just because they were great article. *fingers crossed* it works! http://www.livestrong.com/article/14885-emotional-vs-physical-hunger/ http://www.myfooddiary.com/resources/ask_the_expert/hunger_signals.asp
Angela324 13 Posted September 10, 2012 I'm feeling a little bummed to know that the sleeve really doesn't solve the hunger thing for some of us. Shoot! I guess you don't get anything for free, huh? I wonder if the technique that each of our surgeons used can make the difference? I'm looking forward to reading TamaraS's links. I will have to say I haven't felt 'real' hunger, such as grumbling or pains, just the need to fill my sleeve. Maybe I do need to educate myself. With this seeming hunger, I can see how it would be easy to gain weight back or not lose much in the first place. Kind of scary. 2 TamaraS and lozzad reacted to this
