hey.....I am new to the forum...considering sleeving..can anyone tell me:

1. Is balooning better or sleeving since with balooning nothin gets altered permanently?

2. Do we have to eat multi-vitamins for the rest of our lives?

3. Do the staples every interfere in normal course of life or while travelling under scanners?

4. Is it very difficult/ mentally taxing to not be able to eat what you like?

5. Does the surgery create any issues with having sex or getting pregnant or for the baby in future?

NEWBIE - welcome

not sure about the ballooning?

i believe we will be taking Vitamins for the rest of our days

there shouldn't be any problems with staples - shouldn't interfere

sex/pregnancies - sex? you shouldn't do any aerobics for a bit, otherwise sex is what you make of it

getting pregnant - i think dr.s say different things, as in how long you should wait to have a baby - i don't think there would be any ill effects after the birth of a baby

"difficult/mentally taxing to not abe able to eat what you like?"

the answer to that question will change from sleever to sleever

we're all different, with different reactions to situations

i was in unfamilar territory after being sleeved

mentally i had to get used to certain things that go along w/the sleeve, eating (or lack of) drinking, - not being able to drink w/meals - and having to wait about an hour after you eat before you can drink - and of course much smaller portions per meal

I can deal with not eating certain foods i used to love - sweets/candy were/are my weakness

i can/allowed to have a piece of candy on an occasion, perfectly ok

i just don't want to be "reminded" of the yummy taste behind the devil - so i choose not to have any candy, i would just be torturing myself with that little bit

i have been candy/donuts/.cookies, etc. free for 9 months!!!! OMG

hope i helped you a little

good luck

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
