5 Days Post Op Side Feels Like I've Been Run Over By A Truck And It Hurts When I Breathe!

Recommended Posts

Hey there! I can relate about all the meds. I have auto-immune issues and was told I needed to add another pill to my regime. I actually heard mental brakes (like gears grinding to a stop) and thought NO MORE!! My doc suggested WLS and probably saved my life.

Hang in there! It does get better. Make sure you follow your docs orders to a 'T'!! Everyone here is different and their docs have their own reasons.

Also, I'm a bit confused. You say you are alone in this journey, yet you mentioned your daughters helping you take a walk? That's great if you have support!

Did your doctor give you a plastic device to inhale 10 times a hour. This device is very important. I had the surgery on the 7 with no bowel yet.

I was sleeved on June 18, 2012 , I was one of the people that like y'all had a lot of pain, it made me mad to read about these people that went shopping and walked for hours, NOT ME! It took me almost 5 weeks before I even felt like getting out of the house, I just felt like crap every day. The moment I finally knew I was going to be ok was almost 5 weeks out when I was in the shower and I shaved my own legs, I was crying when I got out of the shower and my grown daughter who is an RN thought something was wrong and I said nothing's wrong I'm just so happy to be feeling normal again! Fast forward to 3 months post op and I'm down 72 lbs and heck yes it was worth every stinkin pain I had to endure! Hang in there cause I promise "This to shall pass"!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
