No I wouldn't want you to stop if you need them. For me it was making me sick. Just take it easy and try and drink your Water. Hope you better soon.

I stop taking mine because they didn't work even after I took two at a time..I can't take hydro so be gave me ultram and it does nothing not even put me to sleep...I'm still on liquids until see my Dr next week.. so hopefully I will get to the next phase. I'm suppose to go back to work on the 18 th so I'm gonna need a miracle...now I'm questioning my decision...you know before I had this done I wad numb...not scared or excited just ok whatever kind of feeling...now I'm like WTH!!!

I'm sorry you are questioning things. That is not something I'm dealing with. I'm still very happy I had the surgery and just figure I'll take a few extra days to recover than everyonre else. I hope you start feeling better soon. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks, I am working on it. :) Yeah, the IV meds made me really sick. I am sure it'll all pass soon. I feel a little better with each day. Just wish it were a little more speedy. Enjoy your day!

I go back and forth with it....I had my surgery because I've had so many health problems and the weight came on from take sooooo many different meds...I think after finding out that I had this genetic heart disease and having to add 2 more pills to my menu it just kind of threw me..so I'm dealing with that ..you know I keep thinking ...what if I went through this and it changes nothing with my heart and I still have to take this five course meal of meds...and deal with everything else that goes with it.. Idk I think if I had more support it would be different. It's just me and my daughters and they are both in college and I don't want them stressing about their mom. But they have been awesome..like wardens really..LOL I'm sure in a week I will be singing the praises of this sleeve, right now I just want the pain to stop and not to see another bowl of broth ever again...LOL

Well, glad you can vent and hopefully things will get better. When can you start puréed foods?

I'm not sure I'm on full liquids starting Tuesday for 3 weeks so sometime in there I guess

If I had to guess I'd say that's probably part of r reason you feel weak and kinda sickly. I was able to start puréed foods 1 day after surgery and I feel like that has helped me to keep my energy and not be disgusted by having to eat the same thing over and over.

I bet after you start eating something with more substance you'll feel better. That won't change the pain, it hasn't mine either, but hopefully will make you feel human again.

Had my sleeve on the 4th and I'm trying really hard to be positive but it hurts so bad to breathe' date=' to move ,to laugh. I honestly don't think if eating a cup of anything in 5 days because it seems like it gets caught in my throat and chest and hurts to go down. The only thing that works is Water and popsicles!

Have not be to the bathroom since before surgery ( bowel movement). Everything smells aweful...sometimes I think this is the best thing I could have ever done so I will post positive comments then my body starts laughing at me and snaps me back to my reality!! Please tell me this will pass..just want the pain to stop[/quote']

I felt the same way. It will pass. Start walking when you can. It really helped me.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
