LessofKelly 62 Posted September 9, 2012 Hello everyone. I've been lurking for a while and didn't want to get my hopes too high but my insurance company FINALLY approved my sleeve and I'm going in Tuesday the 11th! I'm more nervous about the overnight stay in the hospital than anything. I'm so happy to see so many people going though this at the same time!! 2 TamaraS and gigi4 reacted to this

LessofKelly 62 Posted September 9, 2012 Ha!! I don't have children but I manage a group home so I can sort of relate... I took personal time for half of last week to get myself mentally prepared and destressed. I can't imagine how much more difficult this process must be with children and a family to take care of. 1 gigi4 reacted to this

LessofKelly 62 Posted September 9, 2012 They mentioned a catheter. Not going to lie it was almost a deal breaker for me. Does anyone remember being awake and still having a catheter or is it removed before you come to? 1 gigi4 reacted to this
Barisaxylady 154 Posted September 9, 2012 I have surgery on Tuesday and I think my husband has to work Thursday night. ( he is a paramedic) so I have the two kids on my own. He offered to ask his mother to come and help. She s a nice lady but I really don't enjoy her company so I'm hoping to be able to go it alone. Nuts, I know! Barisaxylady 154 Posted September 9, 2012 They mentioned a catheter. Not going to lie it was almost a deal breaker for me. Does anyone remember being awake and still having a catheter or is it removed before you come to? My hospital doesn't put a catheter in. They specifically said it at this surgeons team meeting I had to attend. I don't like the idea of them either but had one with both my c- sections and it wasn't as bad as it sounds. LessofKelly 62 Posted September 9, 2012 Oh my goodness. 3 and 5. I love toddlers. I'll be thinking of you when I think to complain about anything post surgery and I'll keep my big mouth shut. See how you feel though before counting out MIL. Maybe she can even take the kids to her house so you can avoid her and not have to solo midnight potty duty? 1 gigi4 reacted to this
Barisaxylady 154 Posted September 9, 2012 She's a bit of a horder so no room there! Lol don't want my kids getting lost! I can decide on Thursday. Would still get stuck with night potty duty, the guest room is in the basement and the rest of the bedrooms on main living level.
LessofKelly 62 Posted September 9, 2012 Oh jeez! Definately see how you feel. My grandmother was a hoarder, I completely understand!!

LessofKelly 62 Posted September 9, 2012 I'm a huge child with certain things. Cut my stomach? Oh that's fine. Stay overnight and cath me? That's a problem. I just need to get out of my own way and do this!
ForMyGirls 18 Posted September 9, 2012 Hello everyone. I'm more nervous about the overnight stay in the hospital than anything. I'm so happy to see so many people going though this at the same time!! Hi LessofKelly, I'm also on the 11th. Can't believe it's almost here. I'm getting nervous! I'm worried about my 3 year old and 9 month old. Their Grandma and Grandpa are coming to watch them. It's so nice of my husband's parents to come (my parents are not in good health). They live in Thailand and are coming to help for two weeks. I'm mostly worried about complications.
