Absolutely!! I have looked on some of the other threads and found out that everyone was having surgery on every day in September EXCEPT for Sept 21st lol I think it will help having 2 others having surgery the same day as me.

Fear of failure is normal. Remember before you go in that this is not magic. You still have to work at it but that doesn't mean you will fail. When I heard this before my surgery (That I would have to do some work too) I thought ...forget it then! I am weak and if I had any smidgeon of ability to control my food intake then I wouldn't need surgery! But here is the difference. You already DO have willpower and ability whether you know it or not. The fact that you are still alive and still reaching out for help proves it. Imagine if you tried to shovel your snowy driveway with a teaspoon. You would get frustrated and give up. But if someone suddenly gave you a snowblower you'd say "Ok! Now I'm in business!" You would still have to do some of the work BUT now you have the tool to help you. Suddenly your confidence will grow and you will find you had strength in there you didn't even know b/c too many years of failure had weighed you down and frustrated you. You can do it! If I can...anyone can. But know this--you will have to exercise. You will have to work at it mentally. You will have to forgive yourself for mistakes. But you can do it.

Love this response!! Puts everything into perspective :)

Great Topic! I'm new to this site too and often think I will fail. But trying to be optimistic. I have a question for LibbyLou - did you mean you lost 20lbs on "pre-op" and not "post-op". that is amazing. I don't think I can lose the require 10lbs before surgery - I'm trying and I don't even think 1lb has come off! Really??? Anyway, I'm counting on the 14day pre-op all liquid diet to bring me to the 10lb mark. I haven't heard of anyone not losing weight after they were sleeved. I mean how can you not: 85% of your stomach is removed, along with the hunger inducing hormone. I'm focusing on those positive things. And yes, exercise is not something I'm fond of, but just bought myself a new pair of sneakers :)

dlinnh,

Yes, I lost 20 lbs on the pre op. I followed it faithfully and I have about 100 to go (not decided yet). I think now I am only about 15 down because I am puffy from the fluids in the hospital. I only drank very high protein/low carb shakes and Soups. Honesty, I think it was the hardest part so far, at least for my poor hubby when i went into carb withdrawal!

Good luck to all, we can do this!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
