grayeybeauty 48 Posted September 8, 2012 Did anyone go home with a medicine ball? If so how long did it stay in?
Jen K 20 Posted September 8, 2012 I had one too. My surgery was on a Wedensday and I removes the ball in Saturday. There was still medicine in it but I was reacting terribly to the latex bandages holding the tubes down and couldn't take the itchiness anymore. I was a bit shocked by the length of tubing I pulled out of my abdomen. I sure am thankful I had it though.
on the way to the new me 18 Posted September 8, 2012 Sorry this sounds like a stupid question what is a medicine ball? Is this like the port?
Jen K 20 Posted September 8, 2012 It is a ball of local anasthetic that you wear like a purse and it has two leads that are under the skin of the abdomen. It allows for constant local pain meds to all the incisions. It is meant to stay on for the first 4-5 days. It was wondeful! I only had to for pain medicine once after coming home. Avillias 25 Posted September 8, 2012 I left mine in untill It was completely empty, that was about 5 days. I did not want to feel any pain in my belly and when you take it out it doesn't hurt at all, hope this helps
grayeybeauty 48 Posted September 8, 2012 Medicine ball came out this morning...didn't hurt..however I'm really sore still on that side..still kind of hard to move around hurts when I do
doxieville 799 Posted September 8, 2012 That's normal. Use a heating pad or warm compress. And for a day or so hold that side in when you move around. Weird, but for me, the harder i pushed it in when moved, the less it hurt.
