BigFatLoser 331 Posted September 7, 2012 As anyone else gained a little weight during the 6 month supervised diet? I gained 4 lbs during the second month and haven't been able to lose it. I'm going into month 4 and am incredibly nervous about going through all of this just to be denied. I do have a letter from my PCP stating that I have trouble losing because my thyroid isn't yet regulated (I'm hypo). I'm 29 bmi of 40 with asthma. Back problems. Reflux. High cholesterol. Medicaid insurance. So nervous!

BigFatLoser 331 Posted September 8, 2012 Lol aww me too! It's always seemed weird to me that they make you diet beforehand. If we were successful, we wouldn't be here!!!
SpaceDust 585 Posted September 8, 2012 My NUT said the 6 month diet that the insurance companies sometimes require is really less about losing weight at that point than it is about proving that you've made and understand the lifestyle changes necessary to support weight loss with your sleeve, such as understanding the right balance of Protein, fats and carbs, which carbs are good choices, and so on. Of course it's hoped and encouraged for you to drop some pounds - every little bit helps!

SpaceDust 585 Posted May 1, 2013 Wow! This makes me feel better.. Just finishing 1st month and already getting discouraged. Making changes but success is very slow. Don't be discouraged! The process is tough, this changing of major elements of your life. No one expects you to be perfect right off the bat. There will be struggles, and you may backslide sometimes. Just get back on the path and keep moving forward. You'll get there if you truly want to succeed. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using VST
