smb 75 Posted September 12, 2012 Thank you for this!! Indian food is my favorite!! I just started purees yesterday' date=' so I got my Mexican fix, now I know I can get my Indian fix too- I'm a happy girl! Did you make it your self or order from a restaurant?[/quote'] Neither! I got a frozen meal, they are usually in the organic section. Tandoori Kitchen or Amy's -- like 5 min to microwave and it lasted for 3 meals . Not sure if it was really delicious or I was just deprived of flavor. 1 Red597 reacted to this
iggychic 1,405 Posted September 12, 2012 I have been purreeing my son's food for almost seven years now. literaly everything you can eat you can puree. the only real callenges are high bread based items. they turn Gummy in the blender just as they do in our stomach. For my son, i make some favorites like cambels bean with bacon Soup. To enhance texture and vegis I do it 50 non diluted Soup, about 30 percent pureed carrots and 20 percent ground ham. To ground ham appropriately you can add eiter sugar free Syrup or the Water from the carrots. I add Water (and for him syrup because i need to enhance calories signiicantly) to whatever texture im shooting for, which for him is aboiut mashed potatoes. Warm each item first. It will gound in a food processer easier (i prefer that a blender) Beef with aujus and potatoes woks well too. He loves that. bananas with vanilla yoghurt. i have blended whole pies...just add suga free yogurt.
smb 75 Posted September 12, 2012 I don't get how some surgeons "allow" puree'd food on day 2, while some make you wait til day 14. And those who wait til day 14 are made to think their staples will bust and they will die by eating some apple sauce.

And those who wait til day 14 are made to think their staples will bust and they will die by eating some apple sauce. I didn't realize how different surgeons were until I joined this board. My surgeon starts pureed on day 2 and so far I've been fine. Hopefully I continue to be. I started soft foods yesterday (day 7). He moves his patients through pretty quickly. I can't eat very much of whole soft foods, but it is much better getting to chew. I could do 4oz of pureed and can only handle about 2 oz of anything like chicken or fish so far. I'm sure it'll get better, but for now that is about it.

I'm 15 days out, eating puree'd/soft foods and doing great with it. I can eat 4-6 oz of tuna or cottage cheese and less ounces of chicken or meatloaf pieces.
