My Experience In Cancun With Dr. Perez

Recommended Posts

had a great experience in Cancun having vsg surgery with Dr. Hector Perez and felt I should relay my experience to those considering going to cancun for surgery. I went alone and was a little nervous at first. The hotel was beautiful and very relaxing, right on the ocean! I was still somewhat apprehensive until meeting Dr. Perez the next day, surgery day, and also meeting the owners of Clinica Victoria.

Dr. Perez put me at ease immediately due to his confidence and assurance. He was very friendly and I felt very comfortable with his capability in performing my surgery. After surgery, I had a little discomfort from the incisions and swelling but no real pain the entire time I was in the hospital. Pain meds were given regularly and I slept quite a bit the first day. I had no real gas pains at all, and only had nausea for maybe 8 hours after surgery. That was it. The nurses were great! (Carmen was the best -- her big smile put me at ease and she was always smiling.) There were no real communication problems due to the cards that were utilized in the hospital for interpretation.

I feel like I was treated very well during my entire experience and I am still quite amazed how easy my recovery has been ... thanks to Dr. Perez and the wonderful staff at Clinica Victoria. I am glad I chose Cancun because it was very relaxing and inviting and I had no worries about my safety. Dr. Perez is a brilliant surgeon and this was the right fit for me.

My surgery was August 24th and I’m nearly two weeks out and down 14 pounds.

Thank you for your post. I am in Florida and I am considering Cancun because in is about the same as flying to southern California for me. Not to mention it is a nicer destanation than a border town. Can you gove me a update on how you are doing now. Any issues?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
