High Protein Drink Suggestion - Tastes Great!

Recommended Posts

Hi there everyone,

I'm not banded yet (scheduled for 9/28), but I've read so many posts about bad tasting Protein Drinks I thought I'd pass on what I discovered a couple of weeks ago.

Buy unflavored whey Protein (I use "Any Whey"). Make up a batch of any flavor of sugar free koolaid.

Put 8 - 10 ounces of the koolaid in a blender, add one scoop of the unflavored Protein powder and a couple of ice cubes. Blend it till the ice is crushed. It tastes just like a fruit smoothie, is very high protein, and tastes good!!

I also do the same thing with vanilla whey protein and sugar free koolaid and it makes it tastes even more like a Smoothie King Smoothie.

Good luck!

Lisa

I use it also. It is actually my favorite. I put into Jello, pudding, Soups, anything I want. IF you use if for hot you have to mix it cold first (with Water etc) then stir it as a liquid into hot. IF you try to sprinkle it as a dry powder in something already hot it clumps. IT IS TASTELESS!! I will not buy anything else in the future. Im sold on it!!

I just got some delivered today that I bought on Amazon. Can you believe it? I thought Amazon only sold books. I actually bought the vanilla and the plain. I guess I will try them tomorrow.

I will be sure to try the koolaid smoothie.< /span>

Soon to be banded!!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
