How Am I Supposed To Get Liquid In?

Recommended Posts

I don't know how far post op you are but it will come in time. I am almost 12 weeks post op and I am just now being able to get my liquid in. I keep a Water bottle with me and drink as much as I can.

Good luck!

I know I'm not getting in the amount of calories or Fluid I just can't hold it all. How did you get it all in?

How much Fluid are you getting in 24 hrs?

I'm 4 days post op and am getting an ounce a hour and I'm using that with Protein shake with Water. I know I'm dehydrated but can't get anymore in.

I've struggled due to complications. Don't focus on the big number now. I have to get 30 a day to avoid hydration via IV. Shoot for that.

Just keep bottle of Water with you and sip it ALL day long! Keep a sip in mouth at all times , you will be surprised! 4 days out I really wouldn't worry about Protein right now, remember , your small stomach is still swollen and healing ! So you quantity it holds will be even smaller! Water will not stretch it and it goes right through. Clear fluids is all you need to concentrate on! 40 ozs a day! Also I found that crunching on ice helped get more in! Good luck! It should get easier each day! When I was 4 days out , 64ozs was no problem!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
