First Full Day Of Work Today

Recommended Posts

I'm a teacher, and returned to work Tuesday which was a half day and yesterday was a half day. Today was the first day full day. I felt that I had a difficult time today. I did pack my food for the day but when I sat down to eat , I couldn't eat much and felt sick. As I was circulating , I thought I would pass out. So I would sit. I even went to my go to drink- Gatorade, and that made me feel worse. I could hardly drink or eat today and exhausted.

I'm only a month out from surgery. Hope it gets better from here...

I do not know if this will help you or not. But I am 3.5 weeks out. I used to love Gatorade and Powerade, but now I have not found a single flavor I can tolerate. They nauseate me now like they are too sweet.

So I don't know what to say about the eating, but maybe try another drink. Good luck!!

Elisa,

I'm also a teacher and have 4 classes back to back before my lunch break. I bring mozzarella (part skim) cheese sticks' yogurt, crackers and Water to work. I nibble on a bracket or some cheese when I can. Today I had no Snacks until I had my lunch. The nice thing is I'm not hungry but did. It ice I was a little weak. I also didn't eat as much of my lunch as well. I'm hoping for a better day tomorrow. I was sleeved8/14 so I'm a little over 3 weeks. Hang in there and keep trying til you find something that works for you.

I am also a teacher/coach and was sleeved 8/7. I teach PE so I'm always on the go! I have found cheese sticks and Protein Shakes from costco ( premier) to help! The shakes have 30 grams of Protein in them. Then I eat tuna at lunch! Make sure you are getting all your protein in. It seems to help. I was back to work 6 days after my surgery!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
