You may just have a longer stomach. Seriously. People have anatomical differences that matter. Also, what exactly did you eat? I had more real restriction when I started eating more dense foods like poultry and beef.

I don't think you can go by what other people say. The first week I ate about a 1/4 cup but now I usually eat about a half of a cup at a time. I sometimes feel I can drink more than I'm suppose to. I am going to ask the surgeon tomorrow at my appointment if this is normal. Also, I don't get a "full" feeling. I get this pressure, it feels like it's at my sternum and if I get that feeling I consider that to mean I ate to much or to quickly.

Anyway, everyone is different so talk to your surgeon and see what he says.

When you can eat dense Protein like chicken breast you will not be able to eat as much.

Why are you eating too much? Use Portion Control and perhaps you'll see it's not much of an issue.

My God man....You are not supposed to eat till you feel full!!!! That's what got you here.

You are clearly suffering from buyer's remorse. We all do at some point after surgery. Mine only lasted 5 minutes but some have it much longer. But those people usually have leaks and other major medical complications. You're only problem seems to be a lack of committment. Buckle down and follow your plan. You do not need to feel full and vomit up everything you eat. You need to eat sensibly untill you are no longer hungry, then stop and go exercise. It will work if you stop fretting and being so pessimistic.

Sorry to be so harsh but this isn't the first one of these posts you've made.

Did your doctor or NUT give you a food plan? If so follow it please. It will work.

Yep, I measure my food and probably always will - meaning that I portion things out. I don't eat a plateful of something until I'm full.

You also need to recognize your satiated signal. To some it's a burp or a hiccup. To others it's just a sigh. Do not eat until you are full. That's the too much food signal. Eating until uncomfortable is WAY too much food. Eating until you have to vomit is EXTREMELY WAY too much food.

I sure hope that you are not expecting your new sleeve to do all the 'heavy-lifting' for you. It is not the only solution, it is just a tool. You will only be as successful as what you put (or in this case DON'T put) in to the whole lifestyle change.

Sounds like you are expecting the sleeve to police you. Sorry to be harsh but it just comes off this way...

Is it just me' date=' or are people reading too much into the OP's post? I don't see anything to suggest that they're hoping to eat until full - merely a "Oh I'm on soft foods now, I still don't feel restriction - is that normal?" post.

You guys need to chill a little methinks.[/quote']

I may have over reacted, but this is not the first post just like this from the same person. It's the same person who ate 8 oz of tuna on day 1 of soft food and then said the exact same thing. I don't want to criticize, but it seems obvious from reading the other posts that the OP can't control his urge to eat inspite of the fact that he just got released on soft food. I sympathize, but the OP needs some kind of help, or needs to find some self control.

Benjermine, what I read was "I can eat a whole lot more than that and not feel full, barf etc". Early on the food plans are all fairly specific, saying 1/4 to 1/2 cup. If you are following your food plan, how would you know one orr two or three cups didn't fill you up? Don't load your plate and gorge and all these concerns go away just like magic.

I can eat a lot of soft foods. I can eat two cups of watermelon in one sitting and probably more if I would let myself. I never get the full feeling with some foods, but if I eat more than 4 slices of turkey, I get an uncomfortable sensation. As soon as I feel it, I stop eating.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
