Need Advice- 1 !/2 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

I need some advice. I am 1 1/2 weeks post op. I cannot tolerate purred food unless it is very smooth. I have been throwing up if it has the least little lump in it. This morning I had a hard time getting down fluids. I am worried. I have thrown up a couple of times and hope my band has not slipped. I can feel liquid going down my stomach. I don't know the signs of dehydration but was told that dehydration can make your stoma swell. Any advice from anyone that has had similar symptoms.

I would go back to liquids, and stay on pureed foods. Start with warm fluids to help relax the esophagus and stomach. The swelling is probably not down yet. Avoid vomiting!! Give it until the 2-21/2 weeks before trying again. Always follow what your surgeon recommends. If in doubt call the office.

Good luck!

Call your doctor's office now, that is what they are there for.

You really need to call your Dr.s office about this one. Some dr.'s put the band in slightly filled. They may have done this and you need some fill taken out if they did.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
