Is Sleeve Success Possible Without Exercise?

Recommended Posts

I would say yes you can but it depends on how strict you are about getting to goal. I had a major knee surgery ACI/Carticel May/2011 sleeve March/12 and plated broken ankle July/12 . I admit I have not exercised once yet. I have been meaning to ride the exercise bike but haven't gotten into a routine yet as I am just now getting better from my ankle, school has started for my kids and me. So it has been crazy the last 4 weeks. I am down 75lbs since March starting at 278. The clinic set their goal at 174 but I would rather be 155-160 as I am 5'3. I know I am going to have to exercise to get to where I want to be. I would suggest finding something you like to do. Ask your ortho I am sure you are able to bike. Walmart has a nice compact bike for $100. I know I have it.

Hi,

We are right around the same weight/height (before you lost so much! :) ) My husband has suggested a stationary bike too. Maybe that would be a good thing too. I could put in the bedroom and it would take up any space living room space.

Hi Sassy,

I love your attitude!! I know I shouldn't care as much as I do. Chalk it up to 40 years of shame.... Actually if I lose a little weight I think I could manage the courage to wear shorts and t shirt. If only I could find a pool with a "plus size night or day". :)

Yeah I have honestly not been shy ever not at 425lbs or less like I don’t hang at the beach in a string bikini but I never hide away or was shy about myself I am 6ft tall and was about 6ft wide it was hard to miss or hide so F it lol

So with the incredible shrinking woman thing going from one month to the next I look smaller so its like in my mind I think by the end of it I will be completely different so who cares if you see me in the flappy stages lol

He reason I go to the ladies only night is men are typically more aggressive swimmers been going to the same pool off and on for years and they are mostly stronger swimmers, to start I didn’t want to get hit or kicked by a passing swimmer and my mum and sis in law are weak swimmers so on ladies night only half the pool is used for swimming about 8 of us seem to use that half of the pool to swim each week the other half is about 30 woman doing aqua aerobics.

So your in your own lanes and don’t have to deal with sharing lanes with other people who overtake you or swim up right behind you.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
