mkbennett00 0 Posted September 6, 2012 So I had my surgery done on 8/20 and have discovered since the surgery that I get cold really easily. It feels like I am cold all the time. We've checked the thermostat in the house and it's not any different than before the surgery - plus my hubbie feels fine. Did anyone else experience this? Dolly 16 Posted September 6, 2012 I was sleeved 8/29 and feel the same way. I've read that it's common. It sure beats being hot and sweaty! 1 slojo reacted to this
COsleeveDude 273 Posted September 6, 2012 I don't feel colder, but my actual body temp is typically down 1-3 degrees from before, usually 95-97F. Some people may actually feel colder, I brought it up to the nurse because I saw it on the thermometer. She said it's common, and some people will return to "normal" after awhile, others won't. Unfortunately I'm not sweating any less during exercise, but I definitely don't sweat as much as I did before in general.
Foxbins 625 Posted September 6, 2012 Feeling cold is really common. First I was cold from the anesthesia, then I was cold because the surgery does something to your internal thermostat, and now I'm cold because I lost all the fat that was my insulation. Cold is the new normal and I ask people for sweaters at Christmastime and birthdays.

tjloser 62 Posted September 6, 2012 I was sleeved July 10th and I'm feeling the same way. I'm cold all the time and can't seem to warm up. I guess I won't warm up until the winter when the heat is turned on:)
LouiseC 1,031 Posted September 6, 2012 This is normal. Ghrelin is somehow connected to body temp regulation. I was advised after about 18 months I will likely be back to a more normal temp.
slojo 150 Posted September 6, 2012 Sleeved aug 28th 2012 and am experiencing the same thing!
O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted September 6, 2012 Don't forget, fat is an insulator. You are losing your insulation and temps are dropping, so you will feel it more. I'm thinking I won't be running around in shorts & t-shirts in February next year. 1 slojo reacted to this
Chelle68 27 Posted September 6, 2012 I have a couple of friends that are between 9 and 11 months out and they both told me that they stay cold. I have always kept my air at home between 76-78. 78 during the day and 76-77 when getting dressed and putting on make up. I am always warmer then...maybe from drying my hair but now I find 78 kinda cool and comfortable when getting done up for the day. Saves my elec bill and I hate being sweaty.
