I understand that I am not to have sugar and drink sweet tea. However, if I'm drinking 1/2 sweet and 1/2 unsweet tea, where's the harm? I need honest opinions bc that's the only thing I can keep down !

I'm not sleeved, but I would imagine that sugar would bring back cravings. Today, it's half and half...then it's milkshakes. You worked hard and put your body through a lot. I encourage you to stay focused.

I brew my own tea and use splenda to sweeten it. Usually 1 packet of splenda to every 16oz of tea since I dont like it too sweet. you might give that a try.

If you've just had surgery, I think the half and half is fine because you have to stay hydrated.

I have a wicked intolerance for artificial sweeteners. I always have. I have learned that artificial sweeteners are sweeter than sugar by 600 times. I have learned how I can tolerate them. I dilute by half or more than half. I don't like sweets to begin with. I'm ok with the diluted portions. I am happy with it. As long as the Water has a slight flavor, I am cool with it. It's a learning process. One day at a time.

I agree hydration is key at this stage. And I absolutely hate artificial sweeteners. Good luck

I drink sweet tea and gave from the beginning. That and Water is all I usually drink for a beverage. I have cut down and started drinking more unsweet. I have tried all kinds if artificial sweeteners but they are yuck! I gave up carbonated drinks so the sweet tea is ine day at a time. Good Luck!!!

if you cant get anything else down then I would say go for it. I loved the crystal light Water flavors they have. I dont do anything but splenda and regular sugar or honey now. you will be fine! :)

I had sweet tea during the first week due to my struggles with other beverages. By week two I could not stand the taste of it, things changed just that quickly for me. If you are truly struggling, I say do whatever is necessary to stay hydrated. You can always get back on track when things become easier for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
