Maybe, look at the sugar/carb content of your shakes? Or maybe, it's a little early to see something on the scale?

For me, just one bite of anything with flour whatsoever will create an overwhelming craving for more! it's physiological - sugar and flour help create obesity in peole like me. The sugar and calories in the muffin aren't the issue, it's how the total package of ingredients combined react in YOUR body. don't eat any more muffins if you expect (hope, pray, etc.) to lose weight- lesson learned! ;) the price may be too high in the long run! Do better today- that's all you can do!

Don't stress much. The major object of the pre surgery diet isn't so much about losing weight. It's meant more so to help reduce the size of your liver. When they do the surgery laproscopicaliy they have to move your liver to the side with a little wire utensil. The smaller and less fatty the liver is the easier it is for them to accomplish this. If they cant move your liver, you run the risk of your liver being nicked during the surgery. That would lead to the Surgeon having to open you up completely to repair the liver.

Everyone cheats at one time or another. A muffin isn't so bad. Just stick it out and do your best. You can do this!

I would say it might be your shake contents. check the sugar and carbs in your shakes. another thing is "critical days" my weight goes up for 3-4 lbs during that time.

Hi Colleen,

I'm on my pre-op diet since Tuesday, granted I am not on full liquids like some... 3 shakes a day and one high protein/low fat/low carb meal a day. It has not been bad. I'm so ready for this. I do what I can to mix it up with the shakes so I dont' get bored and that helps. I can't speak to the surgery yet, but others can help out and post on that.

Good luck!!

You can get through it & it's worth it! It's the best thing I ever did. I feel good! I can tie my shoes & walk upstairs with the laundry basket. AND, I'm wearing skinny jeans! I haven't worn size 8/10 clothes since I was in middle school, maybe even younger!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
