housecatgirl 0 Posted September 22, 2006 Update...So I went for my appointment and he couldn't get it in me. Apparently, I have a small cervix and it wouldn't fit.:cry I was also told I have a small stomach by the fill doc...I guess I am a small woman traped in a large woman's body!! I still have cramps though from the failed attempts.:think So, he gave me something called Yaz. I guess it's new and a lower hormone dose than Yasmine.:rolleyes I don't think I'll be going back to the doc though. When I told him I gain Water weight on the pill...he said, "that's nonsense...I hate when women try to blame everything for their weight but themselves.":omg: This said while I am still cramping from the jerk poking around and not being able to insert the IUD!!:angry
JDru 0 Posted September 22, 2006 That is horrible!! I'm so sorry he was such a jerk. Have you thought about the Nuva Ring? It does have estrogen in it, but it's a constant release of hormones so the side effects might be lessened for you. I've heard a lot of women like Yaz though... faybie 0 Posted September 22, 2006 Update...When I told him I gain Water weight on the pill...he said, "that's nonsense...I hate when women try to blame everything for their weight but themselves.":omg: This said while I am still cramping from the jerk poking around and not being able to insert the IUD!!:angry OMG what an A$$!!!!!!! I cannot stand male GYNs. It is hard for me to accept that a man could ever understand what we go through from what? age 13 to 55. I would say 20+ years of dealing with something happening to your body would make you an expert on the subject when it comes to your body. I would get a second opinion and not mention the first attempt to the other doctor, sometimes they don't like to disagree with another doctor. I also have the mirena, and I had horrible side effects with any type of pill including the low dosage ones. The side effects just weren't worth all of the agony. I have only had the mirena since April and my GYN explained that the hormone release from it is only in your cervix and does not get into your blood stream like the pill. I was satisfied with that explanation and have found no evidence against it. I still have the spotting, bleeding though. My SIL has one also and she warned me about the possibility of prolonged spotting so I was prepared. She had hers inserted with absolutely NO PAIN. Mine hurt like H E dbl hockey sticks, however a pap smear hurts me too. I think I have a hyper sensitive cervix so definitely not the norm. I also had cervical cancer when I was younger and they said the extraction wouldn't hurt and I was laid up in bed for 3 weeks. Good luck on your second opinion. =)
LadyK 0 Posted September 22, 2006 I had the copper IUD in the mid 80's for 5 years, it worked well but I had several infections. Nothing is perfect, but the IUD was real close.
aus_colleen 0 Posted September 22, 2006 Maybe you should look into implanon. It is just a little rod in your arm, the only thing that hurts is the local anstetic. Oh and if you do get it, dont freak yaself out by looking at the needle it takes to get in there. http://www.implanon.com/index.asp?C=82653389830300578704
jgandg 0 Posted September 22, 2006 What a jerk your doctor is! Seriously, I hope you can find someone else. I use Nuvaring...not an IUD, but a low-dose hormonal borth control that stays in for 3 weeks, out for one every month. I'm really happy with it.
housecatgirl 0 Posted September 23, 2006 I looked at the Implanon website and it looks great but I don't think it's available in the US yet...maybe I can find a clinical trial to be part of. Tried the ring...gave me baaaddd yeast infection.

Fauxnaif 1 Posted September 23, 2006 I have had mine since Jan of 2005-right after my son was born. Really no complications (some slight cramping after sex which I am not sure is related to the Mirena or not). I love it. Very little PMS/cramping. No or a slight period of a day or two. I plan to continue it!
housecatgirl 0 Posted September 24, 2006 Thanks for the offer Colleen. I just may take you up on it. I start the Taz pill today...we'll see how I tolerate it...
Lilly73 0 Posted July 24, 2007 Hi...I have a Mirena IUD and was banded 11 days ago. I have had the IUD for a little over a year. I love it NOW but didn't at first. I had a lot of cramping for several months and spotting too. It finally stopped at about the 7th month and now I have no periods and no cramping at all. I almost had it removed though...in the beginning....couldn't stand the cramping. Glad I waited it out.

Band Chick 3 Posted July 24, 2007 When I told him I gain Water weight on the pill...he said, "that's nonsense...I hate when women try to blame everything for their weight but themselves.":omg: This said while I am still cramping from the jerk poking around and not being able to insert the IUD!!:angry For a Dr, he sure is a STUPID man and a JERK to boot! I was on the pill for 15 years, while I was skinny, and it made me puffy. The pill gives my cousin bigger boobs and plumper tush. LOL He doesn't know crap! Personally, I always go to a woman DR-- they know and understand my body and needs better. Don't believe a single ignorant, insensitive word he says and go see a new Dr. {{{hugs}}}
