Rumble In The Jungle......

Recommended Posts

Hello Fellow Sleevers, I am having a hard time with digesting different liquids. Crystal Light, Jello, and now Atkins shakes are giving me extreme gas. I am trying to be lady like btw. I believe it must be the aspartame in the CL and jello, and the shakes apparently are not lactose free. My DH brought the shakes home, I told him to get Boost Glucose Control. I am lactose intolerant. What are some more suggestions for liquids to consume? I am suffering here, and I just want to eat something. I am down to Water and popsicles only, can't keep going like this. Help?

I purchased Protein powder and Silk Almond Milk during my 2 week Liquid Protein diet, pre op . It was good. I was going to try Boost Glucose Control this time though, but DH brought home the wrong item. I will rectify that tomorrow. But I need other options, other than shakes. I can't eat anything else. I did find out that I can have creamed Soups, so I will also pick that up tomorrow too. Any other suggestions? Just so I won't get bored.

Aside from sf Jello I cant think of anything that's not dairy, ie yogurt, pudding, cream of wheat etc.

My roommate made progresso minestrone and it smelled like heaven. I had him strain out the broth and I ate that. It was one of the best things I have ever had. Probably because I had been on liquid for two weeks but it was awesome.

I haven't had surgery yet but this worries me! This is my problem also. It bothers my stomach now!!!! It's the fake sugar subsatutes. Crystal lite bothers me as soon as I take a drink my stomach goes crazy! It happens to my kids also! The lactos free milk doesnt work for me either. My Dr. Said its the sugars in the milk that cause it for some people. So this will be something i will be going through too! Help us gassy people... Please!!! Lol!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
