How much do you still have to lose?

68 lbs... Amazing. If you do the math... 68 lbs in 1 yr equals out to 5.66 lbs lost per month... which equals out to 1.41 lbs per week. The average weight loss when dieting is 1-2 lbs per week. And if you have sustained that for a whole year... you are way ahead of the curve.

Awsome Job... CONGRATULATIONS!

I am at 185-ish right now and i am 5'8"..so i was thinking another 10-15 pounds? According to those stupid BMI charts, in order for me to be at at a normal weight, i should weigh 164! Way too low! So i think my "goal" is 170-175..good?

But what about your bone structure and are you muscular at all? BMI isn't the final word on everything. A story came out that a lot of Olympic athletes were considered obese by the BMI.

Don't dismiss your weight loss! You've done amazing stuff in just a year. Your body may not be done yet. Just keep on keeping on. As my surgeon says, "this is a marathon not a sprint"

It seems that you are losing at a good rate--- people are all different and we lose at different rates. Glad you are so close to goal. Keep going, you will get there!

You have to remember that for the average sleever, you can expect to loose around 75% of the weigh you need to lose. For you, at 5'8" and with the weight you have already lost, you have passed that 75% right now.

And according to the BMI charts... You are no longer obeses and you are only 3 points away from being consider overweight.

A huge milestone for your 1 year anniversary. You should be very proud of yourself for getting this far.

True that. Bodybuilders can be at 9% and below body fat but over 300 pounds and obese by the charts.

Concentrating on exercise and getting healthy is the ticket at this point for me, despite the last 9 pounds I have to lose before my "goal weight". Frankly, I don't care if I ever get there.

Build the muscles, strengthen the cardio-vascular system, eat good food, be healthy, enjoy life.

The scale and the charts are guildlines not dictators. Don't let them wreck your peace.

Hi,you are quite close to goal!

1.Are you working hard to get there (exercizing 5 times a week, eating on plan, tracking your food?) or 2. is it happening in its own time with a little less effort ( and did you think it would happen faster and is this why you are disappointed?)

I am asking this because mainly I am the second option (except for little flair ups of effort) and now that the weight is coming off a lot slower I am struggling to not be disappointed that it didnt all come off effortlessly...LOL

If you are no 1 you will get there and you must look very toned and shaped already...great going and keep at it,it will happen.

If you are no 2 you will get there,be patient it will take longer this way.Maybe you can exercize a little more to help with the toning and shaping and maybe keeping a food track will help speed things up....

Ok,THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT TOLD MYSELF YESTERDAY!

and I had to admit I want it to go faster now and will have to change!

15 pounds from your personal goal is great. Now you either push hard to lose this or you relax and lose it slowly.

You have done great already!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
