Thank God you didn't marry him. I bet you had it in the back of your mind that this would happen, bet you weren't even surprised. You said it in your third sentence and it is OK to be afraid. We have ups and downs in life and learn and grow from them. Let this be a lesson learned and choose wiser the next time around. Good luck to you now time to focus on YOU.

He wasn't a keeper. You didn't loose him because of your decision to have a surgery, he was already 1 step out the door. It's time to take care of yourself and focus on getting this done and recovery. The next guy will be a keeper and love you for who you are and respect that you value yourself enough to make a life saving choice like this! Keep it up! :)

That just shows right now the kind of person he would have been down the road. You are SO MUCH BETTER OFF! Trust me! When you need support, look to VST and I know that in the meantime, you will find it IRL.

I'm am sorry to hear this :( But like the others have said you're better off without him (even though it may not feel like that now). Just focus on you, and getting your life healthy! Someday he'll look back and regret what he has done, not just because you've lost the weight but because of WHO you are and what a wonderful person he gave up! You on the other hand will probably be looking back and thanking God for this bf leaving you. Who knows you may meet the perfect guy for you and be with him instead!

Ditto to what everyone's said, Pinktink! You are a beautiful women with your whole life infront of you. He needs to work out his own problems...you concentrate on you. It's tough when you're feeling heartbroken, but this split is probably the second best thing happening to you right now! Hang in there....lot's of people here care! :)

i did mine alone with just my mom & even had complications & was hospitalized! my boyfriend of 10yrs was out living his club life & expected me to stick around. yes we r back together now but not without me getting payback for the hell he put me thru. i basically moved on after 10yrs of only being with him & he beggd & pleaded for me back. after 2months, i gave in. its been 4 months & he isnt allowed to go clubbing unless im there. :)

by the way, ill 9months post op on the 20th & im down 109lbs!

from 273 to 164

My boyfriend who doesn't understand struggling with weight your whole life and finally getting an opportunity to live a healthier life.

He thinks I am taking unnessicary measures.

Because he doesn't understand what I am dealing with he has left me. I partly believe that it's for the best. Maybe I need to focus on me become a healthier, stronger me and move on.

I feel so scared; I will be doing this all alone without a support system.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
