Starbucks

Recommended Posts

Starbucks has a little secret! Most of their shops have a size called "short", so you can cut the cals and carbs of your latte by having the smaller size. The tall is often too much for me anyway!

Eh' date=' i don't have an issue with artificial sweetners. I don't consume them a lot anyways.[/quote']

Now that I have had the sleeve my intake of Splenda, aspertine, & all fake sugars has increased because that is what the doctors food plan is. I am eating about 4 sugar free popcycles a day. Ummmm, the rest of my food at this point is OK. How long has it been since u were sleeved? When did your stomach handle regular sugar? Thanks for your help & your previous post.

Iced coffee recipe:

Take 4 ounces coffee grinds to 2 1/2 cups cold Water , soak grinds 12-15 hours and refrigerate for up to a week. Strain the coffee grinds with a cheesecloth or strainer and napkin into a pitcher. Then for a Meal Replacement a take one cup skim milk, one cup iced coffee, my liquid stevia in vanilla or chocolate flavor and my Protein powder and pour it over ice . It's so yummy and so much cheaper than buying coffee each day ;)

I take my premier chocolate Protein shake and have a shot or two added along with ice. It's a substitute for a mocha that I can tolerate and gets me closer to my Protein goals. Very occasionally I get a tall fat free latte - and love it! I (sadly) count carbs, so milk isn't something I have very often.

Bariatric Advantage now has a ProJoe iced latte bottled drink. 20g proetin, 120 cal, 5g carbs, and 3g sugar. They have mocha, vanilla, and chai. Not on their website yet, but you can call them to order and they give free shipping on it. 12 in a case and is actually cheaper than going to Starbucks everyday and getting a tall skinny iced latte! Love them!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
