Lol- the fat way!!! Mwahaha!!! I mixed a little extra light cottage cheese in with my tuna yesterday instead of mayo- couldn't taste the cheese but it made the tuna a little less salty and less dry... Oh and I love a little raw onion and or celery in my tuna... I can imagine mixing tuna into tabbouleh would be nice... Mmmmmm making me hungry!!!

use egg whites only - hard boiled. I use miricle whip.... just a tiny bit. Right now can't have raw onion so I use onion powder and some mustard to flavor it up.

tuna - 75% brown mustard, 25% FF mayo, diced pickle when you're clear to eat.

Egg salad - About 4:1 white to yolk ratio, FF Mayo, diced pickle when you're clear to eat.

You eat so little of anything early out! I say use the regular stuff that doesn't have toxic fat free junk in it. That's been my secret-- enjoy the small portions, make it taste great and satisfying. I made goal at 8.5 months that way. I still use regular everything and skip the fat- removed sugar added crap.

Early on I used a little broth and Picante Sauce for moisture and spice, along with a little mustard. A little sour cream will smooth it out even more. This was my go-to food my first couple of months.

I use fat-free Miracle Whip and sugar-free pickle relish...cuts way down on the fat and carb content. :)

I use chobani plain Greek yogurt to make my tuna. Ups the Protein soo much without the fat from mayo, and tastes great! I also add cayenne pepper, and when I'm cleared I'll add chopped green peppers and onions. Yum!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
