Buckeyes5 0 Posted October 29, 2006 Hi Everyone. I have not experienced the shoulder pain except right after surgery. Hope that gets better for you. However, I took a bite of something that I shouldn't have today and I got this Stuck feeling in my chest and pain, then I could hear gurgling. It was painful and gross. I know better now than to try things I shouldn't have. bckeye01 - Do you live in Columbus? I am about 40 miles south of Columbus.

JDru 0 Posted October 29, 2006 Glad to hear you're feeling great Sonia! I'm finally feeling better after 3 days of pain. I just didn't expect SO much pain. I've never had surgery though, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm still having trouble sleeping, but I'm starting to feel like a normal person again. I get to move on to full liquids on Tuesday!! Chrispy: I know this is an old question, but my doc didn't require me to go off birth control before surgery.
GetnHealthy 0 Posted October 29, 2006 anybody wanna post the recipe for the egg drop Soup??? Sounds yummy thanks jodi This is the one I used. But when I stirred in the eggs after heating the other ingredients, I whipped them and then drizzled them through fork tines slowly into the broth (had my daughter help with this) as this makes the "strings" thinner and more like what would be manageable for our diet. While we added the eggs we stirred it real fast with a whisk as it went in. That way the eggs don't get lumpy cause we can't have lumpy yet. Even after straining it...much of the egg drop was small enough then to slip thought the strainer and if it slips through a strainer...it is fine for us to eat with the broth. EGG DROP SOUP <HR noShade><!----><!--EGG DROP SOUP--> 1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 1/2 tbsp. Water 4 c. chicken broth (canned or homemade) 1 tbsp. soy sauce 2 tsp. granulated chicken bouillon 2 lg. eggs (loosely beaten in a bowl) 2 tbsp. chopped fresh scallions 1 1/2 tsp. sesame oil Combine cornstarch and Water. Combine cornstarch mixture with broth, soy sauce and granulated bouillon in a 2 quart pot; cook on high heat until mixture boils. Turn heat a little lower. Hold eggs in a bowl high above the pot and pour eggs in a slow stream, stirring gently with a long handled spoon, into boiling mixture. Add scallions and oil. Mix well and season to taste. Serve hot. sharlee 0 Posted October 29, 2006 :clap2: I was banded on 10/23 and feel great. I still have pains when trying to get comfortable for bed, but other than that, no gas pains. I was in the hospital overnight and then returned home. Thursday - 3 days after surgery I was hanging out with my children and going places. I am on liquids, however have been a thicker Soup than chicken Noodle. I was so worried going into surgery, but once I was out and started to recover it was fine. Monday and Tuesday I kept saying what was I thinking as those days were painful, but once I arrived home and rested I was fine. I thought for sure I would have horrible gas pains, but I haven't experienced that. Hope everyone is well.
GetnHealthy 0 Posted October 29, 2006 Hi everyone! Is anyone having issues with their shoulder in pain? I was almost in tears the other day. I am taking 4 Gas X per day and am walking quite a bit. Is there anything y'all recommend? Thanks! I think the Gas X is for tummy gas. The gas that is settled in the shoulders and back area is from pumping up the abdomin area for the surgery... so the meds don't really help that...you have to just walk and move around to keep it moving and it actually get's absorbed into your tissues and system, according to my nurse. My Dr. maybe has a different technique..as I have had so little pain anywhere that I am not sure if I had the gas pain or not. I did read that there are ways that they remove it these days right before closing the main incision area. Not sure what mine did...but I sure can not complain. Matter a fact...I have not really had much pain at all, other than the discomfort expected at the port entry area where that muscle was yanked around. And I only feel that pain when I get up out of bed or up off a chair after sitting a while...and that was just the first day after, really. Today...day four I feel real good and am going to town with the kids for their 4H awards day and back to work tomorrow. The only DOWNSIDE is that due to the swelling of the whole tummy area..I look 8 months pregnant and no one knows at work that I had this done...so I have to try to hide my tummy and am trying to see what the heck I have for clothes that will work. Halloween day is on tuesday and we dress up and I can get by with a witch's cloak that I have to get past that...but not sure what I will wear tomorrow. Just finished up the best creamy chicken mushroom Soup. man was I ever hungry..and didn't realize it til I actually sipped some.:hungry: Bye all Here is wishing you all the best. GetnHealthy 0 Posted October 29, 2006 Good for you Sharlee...I am happy for you. I was the same way...still had those feelings of "what the heck am I doing"...or..."what the heck have I done"...and now I am so happy to have it all over with and on the road to a thinner me! :clap2: I was banded on 10/23 and feel great. Buckeyes5 0 Posted October 29, 2006 I also had problems sleeping on my side right after surgery. I used a body pillow and that really helped a lot. I just layed on my side and anchored my leg over the pillow and it took the pressure off of my side. Maybe this will help you.
justpaul1966 0 Posted October 29, 2006 Hi, I was in the same boat and then a nutritionist told me that after surgery you retain a lot of Fluid for several days. i was banded on the 19th and think i have only lost about 4-5 pounds and I am following the rules to the T. It is frustrating but we just have to wait it out.
macdeb59 0 Posted October 30, 2006 Today I ate real food! I had 1 oz of very moist dark meat chicken, 1 tablespoon of mashed potatoes, 1 tablespoon of homemade dressing, very moist and 2 mashed up cooked baby carrots. It was wonderful! I have had no problems, don't really fell full but I'm not hungry either, but I'm not eating any more. It was barely enough to fill a small saucer. It was what I cooked for the rest of the family. I am so excited. I know now that I can eat a regular thanksgiving dinner, much less than last year, but I shouldn't have any trouble!

NewBeginnings2018 81 Posted October 30, 2006 Roxy - I didn't lose a pound in my second week. Not an ounce. I then went on to lose 3 lbs in my third week, even though in my third week I had upped my calorie intake to 1000-1200. I know it's hard not to focus on the scale, but your body is adjusting to the big change you have put it through. Try and think of the time up until your first fill as your time to heal and your time to work on changing your habits. I just finished my first week of mushies, and again didn't lose a pound. As much as I would have loved to have lost something this week, I know it will come. Just keep at it, and it will speed up again. Hope everyone else is doing well! Kstar glad to hear the infection is doing better!

Joy Joy 0 Posted October 30, 2006 Eww. I peeled off the top "band-aid" off and I have all of this sticky residue left. Two of the steri-strips fell off too. 1) how do you get the residue off and 2)should I keep a band-aid over the two that are missing the steri-strips?
