I've been on it for two weeks now and it's pretty quiet unless the mask gets askew in the night and then you can hear the air leaking. Just pull it away and reset it against it your face and you have quiet again. Doesn't bother my husband at all. I've adapted to it quite quickly. I got a mask that just fits around my nose, not the mouth. Sometimes I feel it's lulling me to sleep.< /p>

Hope it goes as well for you.

My hubby has a CPAP. To me, it's like white noise in the background. When his seals started to wear out, they started to make a high pitch whistle that made me nuts. Or if his mouth should get stuck in the open position, it sounds 'off' and wakes me. But! It's all so much better than snoring!!

My favorite thing to wake to is when the cat decides to sleep on the warm snore machine and inadvertently turns it off. Her name is Stash. So I hear:

-snort snort- DANGIT STASH!

I chuckle every time.

I've had my CPAP for years and cant imagine a world without it. The machine is like a quiet fan. As the others have said, if the mask gets unseated, it'll wake you, but much better than the constant waking from the apnea. It's also quite the conversation piece when I stay overnight at friend's house.

I have had CPAP for about 2 years. It does take a little getting used to, but nothing major. The biggest thing is make sure your mask is comfortable and seals well. My wife loves it..no more snoring and it makes very little noise.

I was diagnosed and started my cpap on June 27th. The machine was very quiet and as everyone has said....if the mask comes unsealed you'll hear the air forcing out. My mask is only on the nose as well. It made a WORLD of difference with how I felt during the day. However, I am looking forward to getting rid of it once I've lost enough weight!

I used a couple for a couple of years. They run pretty quiet, but like others have said... They make noise when the mask slides over. Nothing like waking up to the mask over your eye socket drying your eyeball to death, lol. I have since stopped using it as I felt like I was always waking up to adjust it.

In the two years I have had mine I have gone thru 3 different styles of masks. So don't get frustrated go back and get re-fitted with a different style. Remember this condition is deadly if not taken serious. The most famous case I can think of is Reggie White, NFL football player for the Packers died at like 46 or something from it.

I've been using a CPAP for 5 years now. Last year the old one died. It was like the white noise mentioned above. My new machine is really quiet. I, too, do not know what I would do without it, yet I am expecting to someday not need it, after the surgery and I lose serious weight.

I actually like it lol

I feel like it is actually making me fall asleep, which is great because I usually resist sleep. Its pretty quiet with the exception of the gust of air, but that kinda sounds like the "sleep music" you can buy at the store.

Anyhow i feel like a freakin energizer bunny now so I reallllllly love having it! It makes a world of difference! AND I CAN sleep ON MY BACK YAY!

Sorry i have no spouse so I can't comment on that!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
