When Did You Decide To Weigh?

Recommended Posts

Curious when you decided to weigh for the first time after surgery? Today has been 1 week and I am afraid to get on the scale...don't want any disappointment. Thinking about waiting until follow-up with surgeon but that's not for 2 more weeks.....

I weighed myself after five days, when I returned from Mexico. Found that I had gained 6lbs from surgery and flying. Waited four more days and lost 10lbs:)

I got on the scale when I got home after being discharged on 8/22/12.

I asked them to weigh me before I was discharged because I thought I might be over the weight limit on the scale at my parents' house.

I stayed off the scale until my first follow up 9 days after being discharged from the hospital. I then decided to weigh myself once per week on Thursday mornings. It would be too easy for me to obsess about the "number" instead of focusing on Protein and fluids. I do track my food, Fluid, etc with My Net Diary. I have lost at each weekly weigh-in so far. I'm following my surgeon's diet exactly, no cheats. I want to get to goal on schedule so I can maintain. I am focused and determined to make this work for me.

Flew home from Mexico a week after surgery

a whopping 15 lbs lighter than the day of surgery.

I weigh myself every single day since that day :)

I had surgery on Wednesday and weighed every Monday. Seems fitting to start the week off.

It was a week ago today that I was sleeved, and I'm fighting the temptation to get on the scale right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
