Eating Quickly W No Side Effects

Recommended Posts

Ms Dimples & Usadukes' date='

At the 3rd day, I still wasn't getting enough liquids & I felt like crap. The 4th day onward was better, but I did have to start forcing myself to drink because universally I read on here that people felt worse when they didn't get enough fliuds.[/quote']

I'm trying hard cause I don't want to end up back in the hospital.

I am just short of 6months out' date=' things like pudding have always gone down super easy from the very beginning. I am still working on eating slow, some days it is still hard to remember, and soft things like pudding, Jello and yougurt are the hardest to go slowly on.[/quote']

Aha! You have NO idea how good this post has made me feel. The pudding just glides down my throat. :-). Glad I'm not the only one. Thanks!!

No, I'm in soft foods now, I can eat baked tilapia, well cooked cabbage, tuna salad and things like that without any problems. I haven't even been nauseated thus far.

I can eat applesauce fast. I eat Mushed foods quicker than I probably should, but I can tell when to stop. I think reading the replies on the site about how bad overeating or throwing up can be have scared me to stop eating earlier than my brain says.

I'm 7 days out tomorrow and I have no problems swallowing, but it feels bad when it gets to the bottom, so I just stop. What's irritating is that I'm hungry again in 2 hours or is it head hunger?

Are you able to put anything on your tuna salad

Almost 4 months out and I still eat a bit too fast. Eating too fast doesn't bother me at all, but eating too much certainly does.

Now drinking too fast is uncomfortable...to put it mildly.

I too was sleeved on 8/21, and I can eat and drink quickly as well. I can eat 8 oz. of broth in about 15 minutes without any problems. I moved to full liquids today and had 1/2 cup of blended cream Soup in about 10 minutes...no issues. I did ask my surgeon, as I can drink as I did before surgery, and he said if it wasn't hurting me then it was fine. I'd be curious to hear what your doc says!

I was always a very fast eater. Kind of gorged my food and barely chewed it. You will find now when you start eating solid food, you can't do that. Your stomach is too small and the food you are piling in if you eat too fast has nowhere to go. I did it a couple times, and you get the slimes, and have a feeling in your chest like something is stuck. Then you fo try to throw up and it pops right out with no problem. I really had to focus on slowing down.

I honestly didn't think I had any restriction early on, but now almost 2 months out I def feel it! When I eat too fast, now I feel like I want to die because it hurts so bad. Def took some time to adjust to a new way of life, and took some getting used to.

What about eating and drinking together I do that from time to time because I forget but after I'm terrified because I think I'm streching my sleeve when I do it has anyone else done that?

It's hard to eat slowly, isn't it? And i've always been a slow eater, but this is painstakingly slow. I just had some cream of brocolli Soup and I sipped it too quickly. Darn it, now I feel icky. This is a whole new world!!

Anyone have any tricks to remind them to eat/sip extra slowly?

Thanks!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
