Eating Quickly W No Side Effects

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I was sleeved 8/21. I'm on full liquids until 9/11, then I go on puree.

About an hour ago I downed a SF pudding in about 4 bites. I'm quite satisfied, but it was mindless eating. I'm working really hard on that behavoir, so that's not what I need advice about.

I'm having no side affects from the pudding. I also can drink pretty quickly now too. I am not on any PPI's and have no acid.

I KNOW this is everyone's opinion only. I go for my post-op check on thursday & I'll ask.

My question is: anyone else like this? Heck, I'm not complaining becuase it sounds like some of you are having a hard time getting all your fluids & Proteins in and I feel bad for you guys. I'm pretty sure once I start on solid food it won't be as easy. LT has said in a couple posts that liquids don't stay in the sleeve long so that's why those of us on liquids don't feel full. I'm just suprised at how quickly I can eat/drink my liquids.

**i also respectfully ask that posters not bash other people's answers. I want everyone to feel safe in answering me.

Thanks!!

I try to eat slow but I barely do.

I know if I eat too fast I can very easily overeat... And then I don't feel good

You will eat slower when you start fluids, it is a lot harder to move the food through the sleeve. Use that time when you have to eat slow to retrain your eating habits.

Yeah, I haven't gotten the opps feeling. But like Zino said, this is the time to retrain my brain, so I kinda wish that I DID have that negative feedback from my body.

Thanks!

I am just short of 6months out, things like pudding have always gone down super easy from the very beginning. I am still working on eating slow, some days it is still hard to remember, and soft things like pudding, Jello and yougurt are the hardest to go slowly on.

I seem to be the same as msdimples! I am miserable with just my Water and Isopure. I realize this is only day three post-op, but I keep thinking i should actualyl want to try the Jello and maybe lick a popsicle, but I never even want anything. I have also had issues with my liquid hydrocodone and truly hope any discomfort goes away quickly so I can move away from that!!!

I was sleeved on the same day as you and I can eat anything ( chewed well) without difficulties' date=' oops did I say that.[/quote']

You are allowed chewed food? Wow! Not me. Still have about 3-4 weeks until I can have solids. And your sleeve responds ok? Interesting!

Ms Dimples & Usadukes,

At the 3rd day, I still wasn't getting enough liquids & I felt like crap. The 4th day onward was better, but I did have to start forcing myself to drink because universally I read on here that people felt worse when they didn't get enough fliuds.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
