I have been an asthmatic since I was 2 (now 59), and was maintained on Singulair & Advair. When the PA gave me discharge instructions, she said to discontinue the Singulair. The first few days I had to use my Albuterol inhaler multiple times. I have now starting crushing & added the Singulair back. I will call my doc in the morning to verify. Anyone else crush their Singulair tabs?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Singulair a steroidal medication? At least according to the program I went through, Steroids (and NSAIDs) are strictly off-limits after WLS. Please verify with your surgeon before you begin taking this again (if I'm correct about it being a steroid).

Best of luck

Laura

I have yearly allergies since 2008. I am on 10mg of Singulair and 10mg of Zyrtec daily, year round. My discharge instructions per my doctor say to take these meds as directed, and so I have been, once a day for each.

Thanks Laura, guess I should have added that I am a nurse. No, Singulair is not a steroid.

There's also a big difference between oral and inhaled steroids.

Right, oral steroids jack with your glucose levels & healing rate. Advair is an inhalation steroid with a bronchodilator. Trouble is I need both (Singulair & Advair) to keep my asthma in check. There is some speculation that asthma may be obesity related, but in my case, having it thru my entire "lean years" dispels that for me...

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
