Recommended Posts

I had me sleeve on August 6. Ive lost 40 lbs. I feel great and couldn't be happier with my progress! Starting weight was 205 and now I am 165! I am eating refried Beans and lots of chicken and turkey. When I want something sweet I will have a pedia light bar. And I love taking my Bariatric Advantage berry crystals they are so yummy to me! I am rarely hungry and I never eat and less I am hungry. Good job to everyone who is losing... and here's to all of us for making a life change that will benefit our children and our selves in the future! Cheers!

I was sleeved on 8/15 my starting weight was 275 and I'm down to 256. I am eating mostly Soup, Protein Shakes and 2 nights ago I added fish. I find that I can only eat 1-2 ounces of fish at a time. My energy level is ok, I can walk for 30 minutes at a time. I am loving my sleeve and I feel this was the best decision I've ever made

I was sleeved 8/31

I am on clears now and for another week due to a hernia repair

I feel pretty good and haven't needed any naps during the days. I walk the dog for 15 min twice a day. I return to work Monday and feel OK with that.

The only pain i've experienced was bosh aches due to c02 during the first 4 days. No pain at this point.

Have had no nausea (knock on wood!)

I've lost 13lbs since surgery (8 days)

I'd be lucky if the remainder of my healing were this easy!

Birdy18 - I know how you feel! I was sleeved on Aug. 1, the first couple of weeks I was not really hungry. But now, I am starving! I don't get a full feeling like I did before surgery. It seems like I can eat a lot more than I should be able to. I also read about so many people on here that can just eat a couple of bites and be full. That is definitely not me! I am disappointed at this stage, because I was tole that I would not be feeling this hungry.

I was sleeved 8/8. I went to the doctor's today and down another 11 pounds making a total of 24. He told me today I need to add some veggies and one bite of starch to my diet. I've been living off of mainly Protein Drinks and Protein such as chicken and fish, yogurt. He said I could try salad as long as the lettuce is cut up in tiny pieces. I can start back at the gym. The first 2-3 weeks were the hardest for me with nausea, feeling tired all of the time. It's getting easier to eat now, starting to get energy back a little bit. He also said I could try almonds 1-2x a week, apple slices without the skin. I'm eating 1/4 to 1/2 cup at meals, more closer to 1/4 cup. He told me with time I'll be able to eat a little more. He was quite pleased and so was I!

Update to my last post. Well a little time has made a huge difference. I am really feeling great now. My surgery was 8/27 and I'm down 17lbs. I drink injury chocolate splendid with skim milk twice day and have started some foods. As i was able to get in nutrients my energy had come back. I stay full now and am learning how much food is the right amount. Iwalk every day 30@40 minutes. I think getting some exercise has helped too. The first 2 weeks are hard but this week has been so much better. If you are fresh post op don't be discouraged it is going to get better quickly. Just rest as much as you can and keep hydrated. As you feel a little better push yourself to go out and do more everyday.

I was sleeved on Aug 2, down 25 pounds and I feel really good. I still get tired easily but I normally do not get in enough Protein daily. Still working on that each day. I am on mostly soft foods, trying to eat a bite or two of real meat this past week. I eat about 5-6 bites per meal, some soft foods I can eat more (grits, hot cereals, cream soups). Still do not like protein drinks but I am working on using Unjury powders to get in most of my protein goal. People are starting to really notice the weight loss now and that is great!

Hi newby sleeves... I am 5 months out now and for those of you who are having a probl with Protein Shakes I suggest premier pre made Protein which in Canada is only available at costco ... I know that you can get it off the premier website but not sure if they deliver in Canada but I also know they are more widely avail in the Us. I can't stand the smell / taste of protein powders (shudder just thinking about them) and I live the choc premier shakes which are by the supplements at Costco... They taste like yummy chocolate milk - a bit thick but I put them in my two cup bottle and fill the rest with Water to thin. Yummy ... 30 grams of protein and under 5 carbs!

I was sleeved Aug 21. I lost 30 pounds pre surgery and since surgery I have lost 20 more. I went back to work after 2weeks and so I plan my daily food intake accordingly. I have a protien drink for Breakfast, a 1/2 chobani yogurt at about 10, about 1/2 a cup crab salad or egg white salad at noon, a v8 at 3 and for dinner I experiment. I eat fish, cooked zuchini with ricotta and sauce, etc. I need to ask my nut how many calories a day I should be getting because I am only averaging 500 - 600. I also try to walk 2 miles a day.

Sleeved on 8/28/12. No post op problems except, I cannot eat applesauce. It makes me want to vomit and I have not vomited, YAY! I can do Soups, Greek yogurt, eggs, cheese, tender chicken, ground turkey/beef, cooked greens, string Beans, boiled shrimp, fish, softer wheat crackers, low carb wraps with refried beans and cheese, cottage cheese. Some days I want a bit of food and other days I don't want much of anything. I go with a Gladiator smoothie From smoothie king or make one at home. They have 45 grams of protein! Push to get the Water in and I walk 30 minutes 3 or 4 days a week. I chew my food like crazy, but eat very little and I am so full, amazing to say the least! I have lost 29 pounds total, 10 from 5 day preop diet. I think bread will never appeal to me or be on my food list. Steak and salad will be later on for sure. I can eat more shrimp than chicken and eggs really fill me up fast, I can eat about one egg.

I was sleeved aug 24th I started out at 240 now weigh 202! I'm on purée stage and I'm sticking to yogurt, tuna, applesauce, eggs, Protein drinks, Jello bites, and I've tried canned fruits but I can't each much of them. I exercise everyday twice a day at home or in the gym, doin strength or cardio. My energy has been fine now but the first two weeks I was so tired. I'm struggling to get my Water and protein in smh so hard to watch the times I drink and eat lol really have to get use to that. Overall I love that I had this surgery I don't regret a thing. Still tempted by some fast foods cuz I have a fiancée that won't let go of them lol but for the most part I've been DOIN really good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
